What do you think when you see the title of a TV show called When Women Rule the World (Channel 4, Thursday, 4 September, 10.35pm)? That it will be a serious discussion about The Glass Ceiling involving talking heads from Germaine Greer, Hillary Clinton and Rita from Coronation Street? Okay, what happens when I tell you that it will feature T4′s Steve Jones and it’s a reality show? And it takes place on a Caribbean Island? Is your mind boggling yet?

The premise of the show is this: A bunch of ‘feisty females’ are put in charge of ten ‘macho males’. They are set the task of creating their own world in this tropical paradise. Each episode will see a bloke evicted and the last one standing will win £30,000. This containing ‘Steve Jones’, ‘Reality TV’ and the face off of blokes vrs women, you can’t help but imagine this is going to be dross of the lowest order.

I can see it now. Steve Jones surrounded by a bevvy of women in bikinis – ironically. Toned blokes with short, gelled hair grumping about the place because they’re being told what to do by a bunch of girls. In-fighting. Tears. Sexual dalliances. Scraps over who will be ‘Queen’. I bet there’s a ‘game’ where the women dress up as Amazonians. This is a contender for worst show of the year and it’s not even started yet. It’s Shipwrecked under the guise of a curious and fun look at gender issues. Let’s call it ‘Carry On Up The Feminists’.

i think the show was a good strong contender for the reality tv genre it was fun exciting and started with a bang the show is gripping and of all the other beach / island shows i think this one is great it has everything, give the show a chance it is not ‘the worst’ as you reviewd it. The show is new and the format is exciting!

I just saw this programme today 6 sep 08,the f**king worst ever!
The only guy that had balls was the one who told them to stick it.I wouldn t do this for 300000 never mind 30 k.The f**king programme makers must be skinning it,tell these lazy f**king ugly cows to get off their fat flabby arses and do it their selves.

It’s awful. It’s typical of the media to humiliate men. Would they make this show if it was men telling women to get down on their knees and obey them????
Surely it’s about time men started to stand up for each other like women have over the years? Guys.. the media keeps putting men down in favour of ‘empowering women’…it’s total discrimination. Support each other and tell these companies ‘enough is enough’!

oh my god all you seem to do is bicca and its you guys complaining about the women biccering! What they hell are you saying about yourselfs! Me and my friends personally tink seeing ladys in bkinis during this sh***y weather is the best thing! So lighten up and have a laugh. My god the guys were not there on balls and chains and I bet for anything they had an all inclusive free holiday out of it! They choose to do it! So lets sit back and enjoy the ride and stop sounding like a bunch of what you call “women”. Persoannly I think this is going to turn ut alot better than you relise.. Lets hope you dont get judged on your first appearence in front of people because so far it all bloody moaning! This excludes Adam by the way!

I suppose when deciding if a show is sexist and wrong or not you have to ask the question…

“Would channel 4 have the same show but the other way around?”

(sexism is when someone/company/organisation is degrading or huumiliating or treating someone differently just because of their gender?)

Using that as a guide find out the answer to the question and then decide if its wrong or not.

The women on the show really dont know how to have respect for themselves…. The 1st time they actually spoke to the men was when the queen had to pick two men and she said “Oi bitch come ere”. How dare she, how would she like it if someone called her Dad or Grandaddy a Bitch in front of her…
The show is entertaining but it also got me very angry!

I am loving this I just have to get involved this is going mental. I have not watched the show yet only seen the adverts but I am defo tuning in now thats for sure.
Personnaly I have had the pleasure of my tea being ready made every night for as long as I can remember and come to think of it my washing to and the housework, my partner is a diamond and so was my mum before that. Now if she suddenly asked me to do it one day I would look at her with shock. I say let them have this show. I am glad its not me. I bet most guys with a partner are rubbing there hands togeater but also at the same time hoping there woman does not watch it and tell them to get of there fat asses. I love it

This show is a disgrace. Not only is it insanely boring, it’s one of the most ludicrously sexist show concepts I’ve ever heard of.

As ‘blue’ quite rightly pointed out, Channel 4 would not dare to create a show in which ’8 men have absolute power over females’. The media has become so sexist against men now it’s laughable.

Truly awful, how CH4 have got away with this, is beyond reproach, I only wish they had a comments section on their website about the program.

I would rightfully object if the the roles were reversed; which as suggested above, simply wouldn’t happen… what a messed up world we live in, hey.

Without doubt the most sexist and degrading show ever seen on TV. But hey, it’s all happening to men so that’s ok isn’t it ladies?

C4 wouldn’t dare make a show where women are treated as slaves so why is it ok to do it to men? Answer: it’s not. C4 should be ashamed of themselves for this.

The treatment of those men in the 1st episode was absolutley disgraceful.

Guys, complain to channel 4 about this programme (0845 076 0191) and complain to ofcom (www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/). We have to let them know this is totally unacceptable or else this kind of misandry will get worse and worse in TV shows.

I wouldn’t mind but it’s a cr*p show anyway.
