This show has been trailered on the box all week and has really got me curious. If I was to assume that a show was going to be made about a celeb’s anger, then I wouldn’t have imagined Losing It: Griff Rhys Jones On Anger (BBC Two, Tuesday, 23 September, 9pm) in a million years. Gordon Ramsay? Yes. Paul O’Grady? Yes. Griff Rhys Jones? Never. It’s because of this unlikely venter that I really want to see this show. Perhaps it’s the Tears of a Clown thing, but there’s clearly a lot we don’t know about the madness of St Griff…
Apparently, Jones has quite the temper. This unloading comes out at colleagues for the most part. Aside from finding out that Griff has a firey temper, which to be honest, is TV show enough for me, I gather that this programme not only sees the comedian looking at anger, but also, unleashing it too. Staggering!
After looking around at various places, basically people that have seen it already, it seems that one scene stands out. Griff, when chatting to an old friend about his tantrums on the Smith and Jones programmes, Griff furious refutes the claim and lets everyone see his ugly side.
Of course, there’s a bigger picture in this show. The point is to look at why people lose their temper and why is it so often men who do the rag losing. Craig Brown, Steve Jones and Heston Blumenthal add their thoughts to what looks like being one of the highlights of next week’s telly.
