Little Britain has been getting more extreme and, IMHO, less funny and creative, as the years have worn on. But today’s news that American critics have panned the show for being ‘too crude’ came as a bit of a surprise. In particular, they’re not keen on the homoerotic gym buddies or the sweary swearyness.
Little Britain USA airs in America on September 28 and starts on BBC One on Friday, October 3. We’ve talked about it here before, as you’ll recall.
Do the Americans have a point? Or are they over-reacting? If you’ve forgotten what Little Britain is, I’ve helpfully supplied a clip over the page!

Did not this happen with Russel Brand?
Yanks ask British comedians to go to their country and poke fun at them then they burst into tears when they do.
The show will do fine in the UK so thats what matters.
Yanks need to make their minds up and stop wasting our time. Come back to Britain and leave the yanks with fat joe and school shootings.
oh of course the americans would think it was too crude. whiny
If by ‘crude’ they mean ‘woefully unfunny, hideously over-exposed, inexplicably popular, about 3 years past its sell-by-date and with nothing to offer a domestic US comedy scene enjoying an enviable golden age, then ‘the yanks’ have a point.
