Yes, the excitement is more than palpable with me today. Leila brought you news of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up earlier on, and it looks ok to me. Can’t wait for it to start. I’m working in an office today and, a few minutes ago, shrieks were heard from workstations everywhere – they were watching a bit of a promo film up on the Strictly website, and shrieking at Gary Rhodes in particular. And not in a good way, before you ask. You can have a look at why they were shrieking after the jump, but in the meantime the couples have also been announced too: Cherie Lunghi and James Jordon (with new flowing locks); Andrew Castle and a massively attractive Ola Jordon; Christine Bleakely and last year’s winner Matthew Cutler (a strong-looking couple); Austin Healey and Erin Boag; poor old Anton gets Gillian Taylforth; Don Warrington and Lilia Kopylova; Heather Small and baby-faced newcomer Brian Foruna (wasn’t there a Star Wars character with the same name? Oh no, it was Bib Fortuna!); Gary Rhodes and Karen Hardie; John Sargeant and another newcomer (I think) Kristina Rihanoff; a mad-haired Jessie Wallace and Darren Bennett; saucy Jodie Kidd and saucy Ian Waite; Mark Foster and Hayley Holt (another new person, she looks lovely); Lisa Snowdon and Brandan Cole (fireworks?); Phil Daniels and Flavia Cacache (yes, she gets Matt Di Angelo’s Enders character’s dad… nice touch Strictly); Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone (early favourites?); and finally Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup.
