For a long time it was Nicole. Then Nicole lost the weight and she had to go, so for a while it was the marginally-heavier chihuahua Tinkerbell instead. There were brief flings with other dogs, but now Paris is alone again. And she’s looking for a new best friend.

Paris is scouring the country in search a special friend, a “BFF” – best friend forever – who can keep pace with her lifestyle. It’s being televised as a new reality TV show, and the title is, imaginatively “Paris Hilton’s New Best Friend.”

The show will go out in the autumn on ITV2 and will follow the fortunes of a group of ‘potential friends’, who will live in a big house of hate together and gradually whittled down by the heiress until just one incredibly determined mentalist remains.

Paris said the idea arose because she loves visiting London but hates not having her ‘bestie’ with her here.

‘Everyone knows I love LA but London, watch out – I’m coming to town and bringing my fast-paced life with me,’ she said. ‘I’m in the UK all the time, but of course I can’t bring all my friends, so I’ve decided to look for a new BFF across the pond. I need a best friend who is hot, who can keep up with me, and most of all, who is real and won’t be a backstabber. I’m not leaving London until I find that amazing girl or guy who can meet the challenges of being my British bestie!’
