Harvey Keitel as Gene Hunt? My goodness me. What a piece of news. That’s Harvey Keitel, the menacing mutha in Mean Streets and Reservoir Dogs, the guy who’s worked with Scorsese and Tarantino. This news is madness, really. The show has been dogged by all sorts of strife (you can read all our Life On Mars coverage here), but now it boasts both The Sopranos Michael Imperioli and Keitel in the cast. And I think it needs someone so quintessentially New Yoik as Keitel to take on the role of Hunt – it helps to fashion the show’s own identity. After all, there’s no point in doing a remake if you’re going to rip off the original.
