What’s with the massive picture?
Get hip to the lip brother because this is the seventies, man. Check out my trews man. They’re wi-i-i-i-ide. See these sideburns? Large, man. Hey, and there’s this totally hep grub man, from India. They got velor walls in there man! It’s pretty far out! Are you gonna keep talking like this for an entire article? Right on. Stick with it brother, ‘cuz I’m-a-gonna tell you about The Supersizers Go… Seventies (BBC Two, Tuesday, 10 June, 9pm).

Brother Giles Coren, restaurant critic and writer and Sista Sue Perkins who has tread a board in her time, spend a week going back… way back… to a place in history that is remembered for disco, punk, strike action, continental quilts, cassettes, mental wallpaper and truly great haircuts (if you ask me).

However, the seventies was also a place of a new health food kick. Muesli made its bow during this decade. It wasn’t all regular bowel related. You also had quiche, prawn cocktail, chicken in a basket and steak and chips. Of course, with Giles and Sue being a little older than me, they’ll remember all this from their childhood, so I guess we’re in for a great time watching them get dewy eyed over dressed crab.

Cooking for them is top chef Mark Hix and, on top of the food, a soundtrack of 70s pop-faves completes the Super 8 view.
