Glasto from the sofa: Amy Winehouse attacks a crowd-member during a storming set

getty_amy.jpg It’s been a good weekend for me – Wimbledon in the morning, a stupidly astonishing Doctor Who in the evening, and Glastonbury at night. That’s the sort of telly I like. There were two talking points at Glasto last night, of course, firstly whether Amy Winehouse would turn up in a fit state to perform, and secondly how Jay-Z would go down. Jay-Z did his best to be the biggest and most memorable act of the day by opening with Wonderwall in “homage” to Noel Gallagher (who has said that hip-hop has no place at Glasto) but he just couldn’t top our Amy.

I watched all of her set, provided, for once, live and uninterrupted (after a very slight delay) by BBC Two, and she played all her hits as well as some well-chosen covers such as Cupid and Message To You, Rudy. The set was punctuated by references to her incarcerated husband Blake Fielder-Civil, but for most of the time she just got on with the business of singing and boogying to soul, r&b and reggae with her fantastic backing band.

Near the end of the set, though, she got down off the stage to sing Rehab, and reached out to the crowd – and attacked one of them. I’ve read varying accounts of what provoked it (something was grabbed, either her beehive or breast) but you can have a look for yourself right here:
