Don’t set the video, just stay in: Wimbledon on the BBC

Yes, that’s right, just stay in. For two whole weeks. Don’t worry, you’ve got Glastonbury to split it up next weekend. The thing is, BBC’s coverage of Wimbledon is always awesome, and I don’t want you to miss a moment. I’ve been watching Euro 2008, but the coverage from both BBC and ITV has been pretty flat and unexciting – you won’t get that with Wimbledon 2008.

As usual, the unflappable (except when Roddick’s around) Sue Barker will be the main presenter of all of the BBC One coverage, with John Inverdale hosting the daily highlights show on BBC Two at 8pm. What’s always hugely impressive, of course, is the array of ex-players they get to lend their expert knowledge to proceedings. This year, among many others, they’ve got John MacEnroe, Greg Rusedski, Tim Henman, Boris Becker, John Lloyd and Andrew Castle. Told you it was impressive.

There’ll be different courts to chose from on BBCi, and BBCHD is put to good use with eleven hours of court action every single day. And then there’s the radio coverage led by (bow down) Simon Mayo, along with the likes of Clare Balding, Michael Stich and Pat Cash. So really, I ask you, why would you bother with a little thing like your daily lives? Instead just stay in your pyjamas, stick the telly on, and let all these guys – oh, and the players – entertain you. It’s even fun when it rains…

I hate it how the schedules are torn up to make way for 24/7 Wimbledon – it’s like the BBC doesn’t care about Tennis haters like me.
