Despite me really quite liking Billie Piper, I didn’t watch much of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl. Why? I’m not sure really. Perhaps I wanted to preserve Billie’s angelic Rose and didn’t want to watch something where she got her kit of at the drop of a hat. Is that a real, soppy new man thing to do? Hmmm I’m not sure. Weird though, because I used to read Belle Du Jour’s blog from time to time and found it very eye-opening and very (most of the time unintentionally) funny. Anyway, what friends who saw the first series have told me was that SDOACG was alright (this matched Our John’s opinion too) and that was it, but it did prove to be a massive hit for ITV2 and has sold well overseas. Now Billie’s back and filming the second series.
Lest we forget, SDOACG is based on the blog/book by anonymous high-class call girl Belle De Jour, and this tantalising mixture garnered ITV2 a two-million audience figure.
But now we’re onto the second series now, so what’s new? Well, Belle is now an independent high-class escort and she finds acting as unwilling mentor to Bambi, a fellow lady of the night. Then she meets Alex, a handsome doctor. The big question is.. can a person have sex for money they’re falling in love?
I’d say probably not, to be honest.
