harry-hill-soap.jpgFor the time being, you’re going to have to get used to the phrase ‘Bafta award winning…‘ before certain actors’ and show’s names. Okay. I’ll let this be the start of it… consider it training for later articles.

Bafta award winning Harry Hill is to make a spoof soap for ITV called Soapington Way. Double Bafta award winning Harry Hill’s TV Burp‘s Harry Hill (Bafta award winner) will play a pub landlord called Arthur Buttons in the new programme and has already made a pilot which co-stars Liza Tarbuck, who plays his mum, Mark Benton and Kate Robbins. The pilot has now been commissioned for a series.

“It’s a mickey take of a soap,” explained Bafta award winner Hill, who regularly takes the piss out of shows like EastEnders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Holby City on his ITV1 show, which scooped two Bafta awards last night at the Bafta awards ceremony.

The award winning Harry Hill’s TV Burp has only just finished its seventh season, and Hill (Bafta winnererer) said that, initially, the show didn’t have the backing of ITV. “It’s only the latest mob at ITV that have got behind it,” he said. “For a long time it was going out at 4.30 in the afternoon and then 11 at night. We never really had the backing from ITV for it to break though.” But Hill said this may have turned out to be a blessing in disguise. “It allowed us to improve it quietly.”
