There is, of course, a short answer to the question: Can a person have too much John Barrowman? And, of course, it doesn’t just apply to John Barrowman, it could be: Can a person have too much of anyone? But let’s talk about John Barrowman. He acts, he dances, he sings, he appears as a judge on a singing contest, he’s an action hero, he releases albums, he appears on chatshows, he even probably does his own washing up, ironing and takes out his rubbish. He’s a good-looking boy too. Is there any end to his talents? No, I don’t think so actually. He’s good at everything he does. He’s mega-talented and good luck to him. I’m not here to begrudge him of his deserved success, I’m just here to ask: Can a person have too much John Barrowman?

Let’s look at what he’s doing at the moment. He recently released an album, so he appeared on loads of chatshows promoting his product, singing ballads and hamming to the camera. He appeared as a judge on the Eurovision thing, he was doing the action hero thing in Torchwood and he even presented the National Lottery show.
Now he’s firmly ensconsed on the judging panel in I’d Do Anything, which I’m enjoying, he’s still in Torchwood (ends this Friday) and he’s being lined up for even more stuff.
He’ll be in Doctor Who (starts Saturday) and he’s hosting a new Saturday teatime quiz, The Kids Are Alright, in a few week’s time. At some stage in the next month or so we may have the scenario where he’s in three things on a Saturday night.
Nothing wrong with Barrowman at all. I just worry that this constant exposure will turn people off him… I’m already shuddering at the thought of wall-to-wall Barrowman on a Saturday night. Surely there are other, talented presenters/actors out there that can do the same job just as well?
So to answer my question… yes, a person can have too much John Barrowman!
