Last week (I think it was last week) we brought you news that bebo, the social networking site, was to broadcast an online drama called Sofia’s Diary. It’s up and running and can be watched here, but now the site has taken things one step further in terms of bolstering its online profile – bebo has teamed up with Last.fm to link in loads of music. How does this work? Read on after the jumper…
Last.fm is a site, if you didn’t already know, where you can set up streams of your favourite music, share it, make friends and do all the things that social networking sites provides. The site is all about music, though.
What bebo has done is team up with last.fm to enable members of the Sofia’s Diary community to listen to the character Sofia’s favourite music. The hook-up displays images of all the bands Sofia likes, and allows fans to launch a streaming radio station that plays music from those artists and similar artists. Bebo users can place the widget on their own profiles, and it will be updated throughout the series as Sofia reveals more of her music taste to the show’s audience.
Phew! Isn’t technology marvellous?
