Oh dear, I'm not into this piece of news. Even though nothing is confirmed or denied, it looks like Channel 4's How Clean Is Your House? won't be coming back to our screens... and TV will be poorer for it. One thing that is certain is that the show will not air this year after Channel 4 recently axed and "rested" a number of reality and factual entertainment shows, such as Brat Camp and Celebrity Big Brother, as part of its "creative renewal" to make room for new programmes. Of all the factual/reality shows, Kim and Aggie's vehicle is probably the most enjoyable.

Channel 4 is still in discussions with the How Clean Is Your House? makers, Talkback Thames, and stars Kim Woodburn and Aggie MacKensie. It seems that any return will be a series of specials or one-offs as opposed to a full series. Damn. Damn. Damn. We've seen Aggie MacKensie being a hit with ITV1 audiences as a contestant in Dancing on Ice and Queen Bee, Kim Woodburn has been filming a new cleanliness and etiquette show in Canada called Kim's Rude Awakening (I bet that's brilliant).

Channel 4 said no decision has yet been made about the long-term future of How Clean Is Your House. A spokeswoman for Talkback Thames said: "There is no definitive answer. It will not air this year but we're still in discussions about another series and doing something different but the relationship with Kim and Aggie is still there."

Now, in a TV time when being odious and prickly seems to be the order of the day, it seems a real shame to rid us of two of the warmest and camply funny people on the box. As a pair, Kim and Aggie never fail to win hearts. Where others mock, Kim and Aggie playfully scald like a loveable old aunt and get down in the muck and help you out. I do hope we see them again in the not-too-distant future.
