With the Strictly bandwagon still rolling on unabated, news of the US version's first confirmed recruit will have ballroomers up and down the land quick stepping in celebration. And, whisper it, some friends who I spoke to via words, even said that Dancing With The Stars was better than Strictly. That's plainly rubbish, but the sight of Mel B almost winning and Marie Osmond fainting made for good TV.

So who's signed up for the new series, starting in the US mid-March? Priscilla Presley and Marla Maples (Donald Trump's ex-wife) have been the most closely linked so far, but Botox advertisers and cosmetic surgeons must be running their hands with glee at the news that these two will be on the telly, primetime, every week.
