david_tennant_doctor_who5.jpgAn exclusive trailer of the eagerly awaited new series of BBC One's BAFTA Award-winning drama Doctor Who breaks today in cinemas across the UK, showing before some of the most hotly anticipated new film releases including Cloverfield, Juno, John Rambo and There Will Be Blood (none of which, naturally, are more hotly anticipated that the dear old Doctor himself).

As we all know, Catherine Tate will be reprising her role as Donna, the runaway bride and will be The Doctor's companion throughout the new series. In the first episode of the 2008 series Donna tracks down The Doctor during an alien emergency in modern-day London. Click through for further details of the series and a link to watch the trailer.

Other episodes include revisiting one of Doctor Who's most popular aliens from the 2006 series - The Ood - in a brand new episode: Planet Of The Ood. Donna and The Doctor will also encounter the murder mystery novelist, Agatha Christie and take a trip to Pompeii.

The new series features a host of well-known guest stars including Sarah Lancashire, Felicity Kendal, Alex Kingston, Lesley Sharp, Georgia Moffett, Lindsey Coulson, Fenella Woolgar, Tim McInnerny, Peter Capaldi, Phil Davis and Tracey Childs.

Freema Agyeman will also return as Martha Jones to join The Doctor and Donna mid series.

Doctor Who 2008 is now in production and will hit BBC One in the Spring.
