As we mentioned last week, the writers of live TV shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are now on strike. Oh yes they are. Members of the Writers Guild of America started protesting yesterday in both New York and LA, and even had writers picketing outside the CBS building at Rockefeller Centre in midtown Manhattan. They wore black T-shirts with "Writer" written on their backs, and they passionately waved signs that said "On Strike" whilst melodically chanting "What do we want? Contracts! When do we want it? Now!" I'm all for you guys getting paid what you deserve - but as a group of writers, couldn't you have come up with a wittier chant than that?
The Independent explains that while producers have enough movie scripts and television scripts to last until next spring, our dear buddies Stewart and Colbert have "gone dark". I hope they get this sorted out soon...
