There is no question that Jeremy Paxman is a prickly old sod who, on a good day, is likely to cut you down with incredible ire. On a bad day, he’s likely to dig up one of your relatives and shout abuse at them whilst you cry in a darkened corner… and that’s just the students on University Challenge. So let’s see him in action on Newsnight. Brava Paxo, brava!

I remember walking along a street in London with some friends. As we waited to cross the road, Paxo stopped at the lights right beside us. There then followed a curiously surreal pause – we looked at him, he looked at us. And then he said: “Yes alright. It is bloody well who you think it is!”.

I should also add that Paxo was on his bike.. he didn’t just glide across the tarmac like some grim reaping politician slayer. Paxo The Politician Slayer… now there’s a TV show I would watch any night of the week.
