I’d love to tell you that us TV critics are super cool and hang around swanky parties whilst sniffing cocaine and guffawing at anecdotes with French words in them, but it’s simply not true. Most of my life is split between laptop and TV screen… always with square eyes and some sort of food hanging out of my mouth/covering my clothes. So with that, you shouldn’t be surprised that I like the odd bit of trash now and again. Who better to embody trash than Graham Norton?
The Graham Norton Show (BBC Two, Thursday, 10pm) sees the little prank pixie reverting back to what he does best… which is essentially making mucky jokes and tittering a lot. We Brits love a bit of innuendo, so of course, Norton is on to a winner when he’s winking and horsing around with vibrators and the like. What makes this show more pleasing is that the comic has seemed a little lost since the days of So… Graham Norton (when it was weekly as opposed to nightly), so to see him mix his unique brand of glee with interviews, live music and the eccentric British public together is like having an old friend calling around your house… even if he is a bit loud and irritating and continually makes jokes about the door knob.
