Meet Kate: the TV channel for women and ex girlfriend of ITV’s Dave

Last month we mentioned that ITV was creating a new TV channel called Dave. Dave is aimed at 16-24-year-old-boys, the “pain in the ass” demographic, and claims to be “the home of witty banter”. If you’re wondering why they decided to name it Dave, they claim it’s “because everyone knows a bloke named Dave”. I was rather disappointed last night when all that was good on TV was, in fact, on Dave. We watched an episode of Red Dwarf and Have I Got News For You, and it got me thinking that there should be a TV channel for women, with shows that we’d actually like to watch. After all, it seems only fair.

It was with this thought, that I, Cate, gave birth to Kate. Why “Kate”? Well, besides the fact that it’s my name, if everyone knows “a bloke named Dave”, surely everyone must then know “some chick named Kate”. It must also be said, that if Dave is going to be “the home of witty banter”, I suppose Kate is just going to be “a break from housework”, you know, because that’s what us women do all day. I like to think that Kate is Dave’s ex girlfriend who left him because he kept hogging the remote…

littlekatelogo.jpgSo, which shows would Kate call home? I’ve compiled a list of those “guilty pleasure” shows that you can only ever seem to watch when no one else is home, your boyfriend is playing computer games in the other room, or shows that your partner actually secretly enjoys watching as well. So…
