This year marks the 40th anniversary of cult 60s TV show and brainchild of its star Patrick McGoohan: The Prisoner. Today Cult TV brings us news of Network’s plans to release the most complete DVD package ever conceived in honour of the occasion. Comprising all 17 episodes digitally remastered and restored from the original 35mm film and with new Dolby 5.1 soundtracks (plus the option to listen in the original Mono format for purists), the seven-disc box set includes a wealth of supplementary material both archive and new.
A feature-length documentary on the production of The Prisoner told through interviews with nearly 40 people, audio commentaries, original edits, a restoration feature concentrating on “Arrival,” digitally restored trailers for every episode, commercial bumpers and behind-the-scenes footage taken on location at Portmerion including previously unseen footage from the collection of Prisoner expert Steven Ricks all add up to a phenomenal package for Prisoner fans.
