Each new celebrity reality show seems to lower our collective standards and frazzle our grey matter, inviting us to give our brains a rest and leave our scruples at the door. They promise sneaky peaks into the day-to-day dross of a has-been celebrity that you’ve either never heard of, happily forgotten or couldn’t care less about. And so looking to keep up with MTV’s recent slide into the muck with Jodie Marsh’s search for a husband, Vh1 presents Celebrity Rehab.
We know the high-profile celebrities battling addiction problems that have recently attended rehab, but the Lindsays and Britneys are a bit too starry for this show. It can’t even aspire to the level of a Jesse Metcalfe (the gardener from Desperate Housewives and squeeze of Nadine from Girls Aloud) or even rehab ever-present Pete Doherty. Oh no, when you sign up to share your cold-turkey hell and group therapy chat with TV cameras, you are officially at career rock bottom. And with that, I introduce you to the Pasadena Recovery Center’s patients…
The celebrities confirmed so far include former professional wrestler Chyna, porn star Mary Carey (her of the legal battle with the more famous Ms Carey), troubled ‘comic’ Andy Dick, Brigitte Nielsen and actor Tom Sizemore. I thought Tom Sizemore had to do proper jail time for his substance abuse problem and subsequent clashes with the law.

A new low will certainly have been reached with the apperance of Mary Carey on this new VH1 show. Ms Carey has,and continues to demonstrate by her behavior that she has numerous "character and moral" flaws. As a recent guest on the Howard Stern show, she posed with boobs exposed with her mother who is recovering from a suicide attempt. I doubt if this poor woman understands who or what her daughter is. For Mary to have enlisted her in this publicity stunt shows along with everything else, that she doesn't even have respect for her mom. Why anyone would want to watch this show is beyond my comprehension. VH1 needs to take a closer look at who is going to be on this show.
