Gordon Ramsay just can’t keep out of the headlines at the moment. If it’s not popularizing tripe it’s being a big, dirty cheat. You heard me Ramsay – I called you a cheat! Well, it’s nothing hugely salacious at all really. Turns out that Gordy (can I call you Gordy?) faked spearing sea bass on his Channel 4 show The F Word.

The Daily Mail reports that during the ‘action’ segment of the programme, he was seen going fishing only to return to shore looking very chuffed, clutching at some fish. But this success at sea was not down to Gordy, oh no, as another member of his crew, spearfishing expert Dave O’Callaghan, has since blabbed all about his fishing prowess.

“I went in 20 minutes before everyone else to make sure we had fish to put on the barbecue. I caught about four and then Gordon got in and we spent about an hour in the water. When we came back in we threaded the fish onto a stringer and he carried them. Put it like this: Gordon Ramsay caught f all”. Really Dave – language!

Channel 4 are in hot water on this one and have come down hard on Optomen, the production company responsible for misleading viewers. A station spokesperson elaborated “the production company Optomen has informed us that, after investigation, regrettably it appears that one part of the sea bass VT gave viewers an inaccurate impression about Gordon’s involvement. We are working with Optomen to ensure this does not happen again.”

She added: “Channel 4 does take such errors of judgment seriously and we regret that viewers may feel they were let down on this occasion.” I don’t know. First they lie about who catches fish, the next thing you know we’ll have rigged phone-in competitions, it’s a slippery slope.
