There are big changes planned for the fifth season of plastic surgery drama Nip/Tuck, with the action transferring from glamourous Miami to er, glamourous LA. Drs. Sean McNamara and Christian Troy are set to pick up their scalpels in the heart of Hollywood, opening an office on Rodeo Drive. Tinseltown and cosmetic surgery – who’d have thought it? But in case they do have trouble filling their schedules, the docs will be supplementing their workload with consultancy roles on a naff medical show called “Hearts and Scalpels.”

After 4 seasons in steamy Florida, show creator Ryan Murphy promises that the show won’t become unrecognizable. He promises that cast members Joely Richardson (Julia), Roma Maffia (Liz), Kelly Carlson (Kimber) and John Hensley (Matt) will still play important parts but star Julian McMahon is hoping to find his own way of shaking things up.

“I don’t think this show is kinky enough so, I’m kind of trying to push for that kind of stuff consistently. For example, I did this thing yesterday that was scripted to do in my bathing suit – pushups in the bathroom – and then I answer a phone call; I decided to do them on the deck naked. I just want to push things further. I feel like when we started on the show, we were pretty explicit and out there, and it maintained that to a certain extent, but now I feel like we have to reinvigorate that a little bit.”

“I think that all the characters have always had a fighting spirit inside of them. There’s some fantastic places that we go to eventually, and there’s some things that Christian does that go way beyond anything he’s done on the show so far.” Beyond anything? What, like actually keeping his ass covered up for more than five minutes?
