With a name like Bear you gotta be tough. And so we, the general public, had been led to believe that Bear Grylls, star of Born Survivor is deserving of his butch moniker. For his Channel 4 show Bear is dropped into various inhospitable wildernesses, with nothing but his skills to keep him alive. However, The Sun is reporting that the TV toughie has had us all fooled and is in fact a big softie.
Survival expert Mark Weinert has claimed that a raft on the programme, shown to have been built by Grylls, was actually his handy work. That he led a team to construct the raft, only for it to be dismantled and Bear filmed re-assembling it. All this, and the revelation that a desert island Grylls visited was actually a smart holiday resort in Hawaii with TV and internet access. Grylls has been unavailable for comment but I’m sure once he returns from his trek in Wales (if that’s really where he is), that he’ll be keen to preserve his macho image and set the record straight.

there are lots of critics saying that Bear’s a fake, fraud or whatever. I know the show is rigged and everything but What people forget is that he is only demonstrating what you would have to do to survive if you ever by unlucky circumstances find yourself caught in such a situation. Its a really informative programme and really educational. this show is the best doco ive ever seen so far…
Finding out that a man who beats the odds of surviving in a different hellish location each week wasn’t all alone is genuinely unsurprising. At least he takes some risk; he could be like most the people who his programme benefits. Bear is a good man, and his critics will probably ruin his career for their own short lived news story. Write a story about any number of celebrity ass clowns, but leave a normal guy with a flare for the wild to himself.

i have no problem in him been a fake but he should say that he is rather than trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes.

I dont wouldnt even care if he did fake it. Man vs. Wild is still my favorite show. Plus he does hard core stuff like climb down waterfalls and jump in FREEEEZIN cold water. Compared to Survivor Man, Man vs. Wild kicks ass. In all the survivor man episodes the only thing les Shoud ever did was get foot fungus.

I could care less about jumping waterfalls and being in cold water. I would like to actually SURVIVE. The crap BEAR tells you to do is not even close to safe.

amen bro. watch the utube where it shows the same place where he walks across a crack on a volcano & and 10 feet down there is a crossing, and you can see cars in the background. he’s a phony. end of story. i dont like to be lied to too especially if you are thinking you are watching the truth about survival. type in “Bear Grylls is a phony” and you will see what i mean. no way of getting out of this. check it out. i was amazed & disappointed.
