Many people thought the scarecrows and the Family of Blood in the last two episodes of Doctor Who were scary, and reminiscent of the children who wandered around in gas masks asking if you were their mummy. There’s no doubting there was a tingling of the spine when they all cocked their heads to the same side and sniffed. But for a *really* scary episode, you need the master of terror: Steven Moffat. For it was he who wrote both The Empty Child (mentioned above) and The Girl in the Fireplace (which featured the scary clockwork androids).
So if scary is your bag, you won’t want to miss this week’s story, which is another Moffat masterpiece. In fact it is so terrifying, the Doctor Who Fear Forecasters have given it a score of 5.5 – on a scale of 1 to 5! The combination of a haunted house, a possessed stone angel, and the Doctor not being around for protection has driven them well and truly behind the sofa. Don’t miss it!
