The fall-out of the Big Brother racism row continues with bad news for Jade and Danielle. The Perfume Shop has withdrawn Goody’s fragrance from its
shelves until further notice, and model Danielle Lloyd has lost a
modelling contract.
The Perfume Shop has withdrawn Jade Goody’s "Shh…" (how apt) perfume from
its stores with immediate effect.
"The Perfume Shop has decided to withdraw Jade Goody’s perfume Shh…
from all of its 150 UK stores with immediate effect," the company said
in a statement. "This decision will be reviewed once Ms Goody has left
the Big Brother house and is in a position to respond to the media in
person."
Apart from Jade’s bad news, Danielle has also had the rug pulled from under her with the news that motorcycle
insurance company Bennetts has terminated its modelling deal with
Danielle.
All trace of Danielle has already been erased from the firm’s website.
"Bennetts is strongly opposed to any form of racism and bullying and,
in the light of the accusations which have been made against Miss
Lloyd, has taken the decision to terminate its arrangements with her
with immediate effect," a spokesperson told The Sun.
"Bennetts will no longer use Miss Lloyd for any promotional activities
and will remove all promotional pictures and press materials featuring
her from its website."
As the row continues, Channel 4 have given in to pressure from MPs and the
public, to donate the profits from tonight’s Celebrity Big Brother’s
eviction vote to charity. The Bollywood superstar Shilpa Shetty and housemate Jade Goody’s are
both up for eviction from the show in a public vote and a Channel 4 spokeswoman said the money from the telephone vote would be
distributed between charities nominated by the contestants at the end
of the show. This follows from the complaints of alleged racist abuse of Shetty by Goody and
some of her fellow housemates of which Ofcom has now received a reported 38,000 complaints and has also seen the Carphone Warehouse pulling its sponsorship of the show. [Mof Gimmers]
