We’re only one post away from declaring our best TV moment of 2006, but in the runner-up spot what else could it be but Doctor Who? Back on our screens in 2005 after an absence of 14 years, many people must have thought that Russell T Davies could not equal the climax of that first "modern" series. Many more people may have wondered whether David Tennant could equal the performances of Chris Eccleston as the eponymous Doctor. On both counts, they needn’t have worried.
Because on both counts, expectations were surpassed. Pretty much the entire series two was as good if not better than the first. David Tennant has been voted the most popular Doctor of all time, pushing long-time favourite Tom Baker into second place and Eccleston into third, but oh! That climax! Brilliant – but exactly how is RTD going to top it for series three?
