Never have a kangaroo’s bottom and crocodile’s dangly bits proved so influential. Matt Willis emerged a worthy winner tonight after viewers clamoured to vote during one of the best Bushtucker Bonanza trials ever – far more real than the fragrant Paul Burrell could ever be, with or without his shirt sleeves.

We whooped, cheered, laughed and screamed as he downed his disgusting grub. I had to leave the room when he began to chomp through a crocodile’s eye and watched open mouthed (careful now) as he bit off the end of the croc’s love muscle.

"My mates are going to want to talk to me about this all the time," he said in somewhat of an understatement. I mean, who would have thought an ex Busted pin-up could ever have anything in common with Carol Thatcher?

First up were three mealworms (standard fare these days) or a beef burger – a dish all of the celebs have been dreaming of for days.

Pushing the burger to one side, Matt said: "It adds pressure. I don’t want to be the one who lets everyone down. If it was an endurance trial, like sitting in a coffin, it would be one thing. But with this you have to shove things in your mouth.”

“It’s hideous,” he grimaced. “It tastes like pus; like a boil exploding in your mouth.” As realisation dawned that he was going for it, he uttered: “Oh my God, I’m going to eat an anus. David would be so hugely proud of me. I’m not going to be able to live this down.”

Deciding to take the bull by the horns, or more literally the crocodile by the you know what, he bit off almost more than he could chew. He grimaced throughout as he chewed away and finally swallowed.

An impressed Ant told him: That’s one of the quickest times anyone has ever done this trial. Well done!”

“My stomach feels in bits,” Matt said. “I’m going to yak hard when I get out of here. The worst one was the anus – it was just the fact that I was eating it.”He then pondered and said: “None of it tasted really dreadful.”And with kangaroo bum stuck between his teeth, he strode off back to camp. Myleene happily screeched her way through Scar-e-oke.She also bagged five stars, and a spot in second place for her trouble.

Jason came third after managing to breathe and keep his cool under a giant glass helmet filled with all manner of bugs and a snake. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as he was reunited with his family. You would have needed a heart made of stone not to be moved by the realisation that Jason can blink after all.

Later, Matt told Ant and Dec: "I don’t really understand. I did not do anything. I don’t get this."I had Jason and Myleene in the final three so this is just weird.

"It’s weird to say I am really good friends with people who I met just a few weeks ago but I spent so much time with them they really do become good friends."

Myleene hugged and kissed Matt when the result was announced.

She said she had had such a good time that "given a few hamburgers" she could quite happily have stayed there.

"I’ve had a ball," she declared, which wasn’t quite the same as Matt had.

She said: "I have had a lot time to reflect on things. You realise your family are just the pinnacle of everything. You realise how much you rely on them." Yes and in this house I rely on them to let me know when the bit with an ex boyband star chewing a crocodile’s whatsit is over. [Linda]
