What to watch this weekend
Friday – Curb Your Enthusiasm, More4, 10.50pm
Genius American sitcom that gives you laughs and carcrashes by the dozen. Tonight, Larry celebrates his birthday and asks for two wishes that eventually come true… one involving a visit to Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion. While there, Larry swaps smoking jackets with a living legend. Class.

Saturday – Wargames, Film4, 6.50pm
Wargames is a classic film that deserves re-evaluation. It’s inventive and nail biting, and stars a baby faced Matthew Broderick who plays the high-school kid who accidentally hacks into the Pentagon and nearly starts World War III. With this film set during ‘The Cold War’, and the kick off of home computing, the flick is hugely enjoyable and as a cautionary tale, it’s lost none of its edge. Superb.
Sunday – Planet Earth, BBC1, 9pm
Basically, whilst Planet Earth is on, no other programme will feature in the top choice for Sunday’s viewing. It’s brutal and beautiful and sadly, seems like one last snapshot of our planet before we ruin it all. If you don’t care about all that, go and watch Ali starring Will Smith on Five.
One To Avoid – The Catherine Tate Show, Sunday, 9pm, BBC2
Unimaginative, cliche’d and dour. Why anyone watches this show is beyond the realms of my imagination. People who do rubbish impressions of ‘Am I bovvered’ are only marginally more irritating than the real thing. Dismal.
