Shamless
Channel 4 has confirmed that they will be airing a futher two more series of the ever popular
Shameless, with the possibility of an increase in the number of episodes.
Producers of the BAFTA winning show have said a fourth series of the drama will air in January
and a fifth at a later date.

They’re also considering setting up a
permanent set for the show – but have yet to find a suitable site.
"They’re working on the fourth series at the moment," a spokeswoman for
the channel told BBC News. "The fifth series is definitely in the
pipeline, and it’s under discussion as to whether we’ll increase it to
more than eight episodes. The production team are looking around Manchester at new studio space
but they haven’t found anywhere or signed on the dotted line."[Mof Gimmers]

its beleaved that a permanent set for the show could be in wythenshawe, that being the case would anyone care to elaberate as to the new studio space that is required for such a show as this BAFTA winning show will require?.

given that manchester internation airport is only 15 minutes walk away from the main wythenshawe Civic center with its re-modeled forum center, offices and large shop space going totally unused while the main shops consist of cheap £1 shops and nothing of value werth buying there these days, would these TV studio plans be the catalist to bring re-generation to the local area?.

in summery, will this be move be a good thing and become the first steps to bring in TV production crews and put wythenshawe, south manchester at the forfront of new tech inovative programming etc or help to bring down wythenshawe even more?…….

    Hello Wythenshawe Bloke.

As ever, I don’t really have the answers. All I do is watch TV, review it, and run news articles about TV shows.

There’s no doubt that Wythenshawe could do with a lick of paint, but I fear that the (supposed) arrival of the cast of Shameless won’t be the catalyst for any kind of redevelopment. For example, I know that Hadfield, the village where The League of Gentlemen was filmed, pretty much remained unchanged for the duration of shoots, benefiting only from people driving past it and pointing saying “Oh, that’s where they film the League of Gentlemen…”. The League of Gentlemen was a much more popular show than Shameless, so I guess you can see where I’m going with it…

Still, nice to see someone with a bit of civic pride.
