Fireball XL5 Intro Sequence

By johnberesford on September 22nd, 2006 1 comment

If you’ve been collecting my series on Gerry Anderson intros, you’ll be happy to unbate your breath.  Here’s not only the intro, but also the outro to the wonderful Fireball XL5.  The only night of the week I was allowed to stay up past 6pm, this precursor to Stingray and Thunderbirds aired in an early evening slot on Mondays.  Relive your childhood as Steve Zodiac and Venus wobble their way to the cockpit and blast off for outer space, the shadow of their rocket smoke clearly visible on the sky beside them.

Easily the best of Gerry Anderson’s shows. It was re-run in the mid eighties (during school holiday time) and it pips Captain Scarlet to the finishing post… only just mind…

…Joe 90 had the best theme music though!
