I’m reliably informed that Da Kath & Kim Code is Australia’s "biggest ever" comedy export (Yes, bigger even than Neighbours!), which is why you need to get yourselves over to BBC 2 next Monday to catch the fist episode in the series.
Filmed in documentary style, the film apparently mixes Da Vinci code gags with mispronounced words (a Kath and Kim speciality) and even a special guest appearance by Barry Humphries, without whom, no Australian series would be complete.
Focusing on the everyday trials of Kath Day-Knight (Jane Turner) and her daughter Kim (Gina Riley), who spends most of her time estranged from her hapless husband, Brett (Peter Rowsthorn), the series has already spawned an enormously successful TV movie, which was the highest-rating film on Australian TV when it aired last year, and a slew of K&K themed merchandise. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Da Kath & Kim Code, BBC 2, Monday, August 7th
