Want a big, strong BBC? As opposed to, you know, a punny little weak, pathetic one? Of course you do. In fact, you want it so bad that a whole bunch of you have even told the London Business School that you're prepared to pay for it.

Now, what did you want to go and do that for? LBS do some survey on licence fees, next thing we know, the Beeb are proposing an increase to £150 per year, and you lot are all, "Bring it on! We will totally pay more for the same old, same old!" I'm disappointed in you, people.

Wait a minute, though: it's not exactly money for old rope, is it? I forgot about the bit where we get a bigger, stronger Beeb for our buck. For that was what this independent survey concluded, apparently: that if the BBC was better, we'd all be happy to pay more for it.

"Most people would prefer a bigger, stronger BBC to a smaller, weaker one," says Professor Patrick Barwise of the LBS. Well, no kidding!

You can still sleep easy at night, though. The report concludes that any increase probably won't take place until 2013/14. Hopefully we'll all be dead by then.
