Top 5: Vocal Heroes

By ShinyMedia on February 22nd, 2006 Comments Off

T_baker Fruity ex-Doctor, Little Britain narrator and real life text message Tom Baker has been voted Best Telly Voice of all time.

The Radio Times-reading voters also liked Joanna Lumley, Stephen Fry and Kirsty Young – and, more frighteningly, Jeremy Clarkson and Davina McCall. But ours is not to understand such perversions, ours is to confess our own:

1. Butt-head of Beavis fame. Sexy lisp and a killer line in "uhh".
2. Chef from South Park. I quite like Cartman’s mom‘s voice, too. It comforts in times of stress. TV’s most irritating mum-voice belongs to Peggy Hill, especially when she says "Mehico".
3. Derren Brown. Don’t know why I’ve included him. Maybe he made me do it.
4. Julian Clary. If they gave him a gig reading the news, the world would seem a much lovelier place.
5. Moss from The It Crowd. The voice, the hair… it must be love.
